Increasing environmental challenges and growing demand for food make it essential to explore alternative plant-based sources.

 

Setting up a new chain, from grower to development of a processing process, that will contribute to more sustainable agriculture.

This project is part of ERDF East and the European Union. We are taking on this challenge together with a team of farmers and producers!

The main current protein alternatives, from soy and pea, have disadvantages including transport, allergy and taste. Mung bean has been investigated as a potential alternative that does not have these disadvantages. Unfortunately, mung bean is currently imported from Asia. Within this project we have committed ourselves to the cultivation and valorization of mung beans in the Netherlands.
